Banks which are participating in Earth Hour
Sydney, 24 March, 2009: The banking sector is supporting Earth Hour by switching off the lights in landmark offices on 28 March at 8.30pm for one hour.
Businesses and households from around the world are switching off lights to help raise awareness for the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, in order to tackle climate change.
The Australian Bankers’ Association (ABA) and our member banks believe that climate change is a global problem which needs a global solution.
David Bell, Chief Executive of the ABA, said: “It’s in the long-term interests of the Australian economy, society and environment to take early action so that Australia can make a smooth transition to a lower carbon economy as well as address the vulnerabilities and take advantage of the opportunities presented by climate change.”
