THE TORONTO-DOMINION BANK JOINS THE AUSTRALIAN BANKERS’ ASSOCIATION
Sydney, 22 August, 2005: The Australian Bankers’ Association (ABA) has welcomed The Toronto-Dominion Bank, Australia Branch (TD Australia), to its membership.
The Toronto-Dominion Bank, and its subsidiaries are part of TD Bank Financial Group. Headquartered in Toronto, Canada, the group employs over 52,000 staff globally. TD Securities is the registered business name for The Toronto-Dominion Bank, Australia Branch.
The group offers a full range of financial products and services, while TD Australia focuses on debt capital markets, corporate lending and foreign exchange and interest rate trading activities.
Mr Keith McQueen, Managing Director and Country Head of TD Australia, said: “We have joined the Australian Bankers’ Association as we believe this to be an important industry forum which will help keep us informed of regulatory and banking industry developments affecting banks in the Australian marketplace.”
Mr McQueen went on to say, “Through our membership we also look forward to actively participating in the public policy discussions that shape the future of the Australian banking industry. In particular, we want to play our part in developing sound policy outcomes which will benefit Australian bank customers.”
Dr David Morgan, Chairman of the ABA, said the member banks are looking forward to the contribution of TD Australia.
“We welcome TD into the ABA and I am looking forward to their perspective and participation.” David Bell, Chief Executive of the ABA, said: “With the addition of TD Australia, the ABA’s membership now stands at 26 banks ranging from retail, trading bank-style organisations to regional banks, foreign and wholesale banks. Seven new members, including TD Australia, have joined the ABA in the past four years.”
