NEW DEPUTY CHAIRMAN FOR AUSTRALIAN BANKERS' ASSOCIATION

Sydney, 22 October, 2004: The Chairman of the Australian Bankers’ Association (ABA), John McFarlane, is pleased to announce the appointment of Les Matheson, Citigroup Country Officer Australia and Managing Director Citibank Australia, to the ABA Council and his election as Deputy Chairman.

Mr McFarlane thanked the previous Deputy Chair, Mr Ahmed Fahour, for his contribution to the ABA Council.

Mr Fahour resigned from the ABA Council after he took up the role of Chief Executive Officer, Australia, at the National Australia Bank.
