| Customers Number of customers Roy Morgan research shows that as at December 2010, banks are the main financial institution chosen by 15.5 million customers aged 14 and over. This is an increase of 2.9% or 444,000 customers over the past year. Credit unions are the main financial institution for 1.7 million customers while for building societies it is 605 000 customers, according to Roy Morgan research for December 2010.

Customer satisfaction Roy Morgan research shows that customer satisfaction for banks remains around near record levels (the data series start from 1996). In January 2011, customer satisfaction was 75.4%, slightly higher than for January 2010 (74.5%).

Bank satisfaction data from Roy Morgan Research show a clear upward trend in customer satisfaction since 2002. For almost a year from December 2000 to September 2001, banks satisfaction dipped below 60%.
