CITIGROUP AUSTRALASIA CEO AHMED FAHOUR ELECTED AS AUSTRALIAN BANKERS' ASSOCIATION'S NEW DEPUTY CHAIRMAN

Sydney, 29 April, 2004:  The Chairman of the Australian Bankers’ Association (ABA), John McFarlane, is pleased to announce the appointment of Citigroup Australasia Chief Executive Officer, Ahmed Fahour, to the ABA Council and his election as Deputy Chairman.

ABA Chairman and ANZ CEO, John McFarlane, welcomed Mr Fahour and noted that Citigroup’s global perspective, on the many issues in regulatory affairs that affect the Australian financial services sector, continues to be valuable to the ABA.

Mr McFarlane thanked the previous Deputy Chair Mr Les Matheson, Citibank Australia Managing Director, for his contribution including the renewal of Citibank’s membership to the ABA in 2002.
