AUSTRALIAN BANKS SUPPORT PROTECTION OF WORKERS' ENTITLEMENTS Sydney 26 September 2001: The Australian Bankers’ Association (ABA) supports the protection of workers’ entitlements and sympathises with the position of employees facing loss of job and entitlements in any corporate insolvency. ABA Chairman, David Murray and ABA Chief Executive Officer, David Bell, this morning met with the Federal Treasurer, Peter Costello, Federal Minister for Financial Services and Regulation, Joe Hockey, and other industry representatives to discuss workers’ entitlements. “ABA member banks support the Federal Government’s intention to address the legitimate concerns of Australian workers who find themselves out of work without payment for their entitlement when a company becomes insolvent,” Mr Murray said.
